The Best Vegan Stops in Ubud

While on my mini yogi-vegan retreat that I had with my dad (read about it here!), I visited the most talked about vegan/organic/vegetarian restaurants and cafes near my hotel. Out of all coconut-based, vegetables, and shoeless restaurants and cafes I visited, I curated a yummy and healthy 3-meal vegan plan for you if you're ever visiting Ubud:

1. Breakfast: Clear Cafe

Located in the heart of Ubud, Clear has got a more The-Place-To-Be kind of vibe. With an entrance that makes you rethink where you are because it looks so much like a zen spa, and mats on the floor for seats by a pond to match, you're bound to take a cute pic that's Insta worthy. Although I'm not always a fan of trendy places because it tends to be all about looks and not what actually matters, the food, I can definitely say that Clear isn't one of those places. Not only do they have an amazing interior design (they have stairs that literally looks like a treehouse in the middle of the restaurant), they have amazing food and it would be the perfect destination for a pick-me-up breakfast to start the day.

I recommend ordering: Coconut Kiss (a blend of coconut water, coconut flesh, ice, and honey. It's a lot better than you think it would be) and their falafel wrap!!! Seriously, try their falafel wrap. If you're up for more of a warm veggie meal, opt for their veggie burrito instead!

2. Lunch: Kafe

Although I visited at night time, I could imagine just how lovely this little cafe-like nook would feel. I would definitely recommend visiting during the night time because it had that sleepy, homey feel with indie music and good vegetarian (largely portioned) food lulling you to sleep. But I can just picture how comfy it would be to sit near the walls where you can sit on the ground, on a wooden stage, shoe-less and sit cross-legged while you enjoy your meal, or sitting in one of the seats pictured above while enjoying a green juice and reading a nice book.

I recommend ordering: one of their filling soups, or if you're more hungry, go for their pasta. I promise you that the large portion (equal parts pasta and greens) will not disappoint.

3. Dinner: SAGE

Sage is definitely a vegan date night destination. Cozy and small nook by day, romantic and dimly light by night. Although it is a further drive than central Ubud, the ambiance is totally worth it, especially for a lovely dinner with friends, family, or a loved one. They've got a much simpler and smaller menu, and the place is smaller than the other two restaurants as well, but it doesn't mean that Sage is any less special. Because it's smaller, it does give off more intimacy, which is perfect for a nice get together and a lovely end to your day. Plus, their portions will for sure fill up your stomach with vegan goodness so I suggest ordering a few meals and sharing them family style.

I recommend ordering: their tempeh teriyaki bowl (this tempeh-based meal amazed me. No joke), and their vegan tacos. For dessert, I recommend trying their coconut cake and vegan mint chocolate chip ice cream.

I guarantee you'll be fully satisfied with your day. Trust me, I would never complain if I could eat at all of these restaurants every day.

Comment below if you've ever visited any of these places, or if you're interested! I'd love to hear your reviews and recommendations of yummy healthy/vegetarian/vegan restaurants!
