How To: Next Level Denim Jacket

Temporarily personalise your denim jacket!

Patched denim jackets are currently very on-trend. And when it’s not, they still look super cool and ~vintage~. While already-patched denim jackets and putting patches on denim jackets are very fashionable and quirky, patches may be a little too permanent, especially for people who like to experiment with clothes and have a “style” that constantly evolves.
An awesome alternative to ultra permanent patches: ultra temporary pins!
With pins, you can interchange the colours and designs of your personality to your heart’s desires without any worry. Pins are a great way to express your hobbies, fandoms, movements that you support, favourite colours, etc.
So, if you’d like to bring your plain denim jacket to the next level, follow these easy steps:

Step 1: Pick a jacket!

Choose a denim jacket that best fits your style. I personally chose my Zara oversized acid-wash denim jacket for a grunge base.
Any (denim) jacket works just fine.

Step 2: Find your pins

If you don’t already have a collection of pins, you can go scout for some cool cheap ones. For example, H&M sells packs of edgy pins, Hot Topic sells pins with witty sayings and different fandoms, and Disney has a collection of characters. However, pins can also be found in dollar stores and sometimes you even get freebies from Tween magazines.
If you can’t find pins that fit your personality, you can totally choose your own images and print your own set of pins!

Step 3: Choose your pins

After gathering as many pins as you can find, find the ones you’d actually like to put on your jacket. This can be done at total random or by category, depending on you. Don’t be afraid to use different sizes and types of pins!
Personally, I chose a green, pink, purple, white and black colour scheme which included a gory and feminine zombie hand from H&M, a “puncha yo buns” Finn The Human pin and a punny chemistry pin from Hot Topic, two disney pins (Boo and a bejeweled Maleficent), and a Barbie pin from the “if you can dream it, you can be it” campaign that I printed myself.

Step 4: Lay them out on your jacket

Now it’s time to lay out the pins on your jacket. Choose a part of the denim jacket where you want to personalise (or maybe you even want them scattered all over the jacket) and organise them as you want.
It’s completely fine if you change your mind about this later because you can just take the pins off and relocate!

Step 5: Pin them to your jacket

Step 6: Style your newly pizzazz-ed jacket!

Now you’ve got your snazzy new and improved denim jacket, style it to your heart’s desire. I recommend a pin-striped navy dress pants, oversized white blouse, and combat boots. Enjoy exploring this new kick of personality!!

Do you own a life jacket? Do you even know anything about them? Surprisingly enough, a lot of people do not feel like they need them. But unfortunately, many people lose their lives because of silly mistakes such as this. Many times it only takes just one time for you to fall into the water and not be able to swim. Sure, there are experienced swimmers who feel that even they are above the ability to lose control and drown. However, you never know when a wave or current might become stronger than usual and cause you to go under. A life jacket would give you a better chance of survival. However, it cannot help you if you do not have it on. But before you put one on, you have to have the mindset that it is a fashion accessory or something that you do just because. A life jacket or floatation device could very well save your life someday.
