After turning up to junior prom looking like a champagne fairy (slightly embarrassing throwback pic below), I thought I’d try the opposite side of the spectrum for my senior prom. Before going dress hunting, I knew that my ~aesthetique~ was going to be vampiress-esque, like the embodiment of Prom Queen!Marceline The Vampire Queen fanart. Living in Jakarta, where formal dresses are commercialised for our sub-culture of socialites who go to weddings, cocktail parties, Sweet 17 Birthday Bashes, and “kondangan” of the likes instead of prom, finding the right store is not an easy process. pre-junior prom pictures taken by my grandma Thankfully, I found a dress that was not only unique but dark and striking. It starts off as the perfect little black dress, with minimal straps and maximum padding and just enough of a cut, but it ends as a mystical costume from the 1960’s with it’s ¾ cut and metallic pleated skirt. I bought mine at Forever New (Kemang Village). However, I can't seem to find the link to the exact dress I bought, but I do have alternatives in case you ever feel like channeling your own inner Vampire Queen. left to right: CHARLOTTE RUSSE Strappy Crisscross Bustier, FOREVER 21 Strappy Crisscross Bralette, NORDSTROM Strappy Bralette left to right: PULL & BEAR Finely Pleated Metallic Midi Skirt, ZARA Shiny Pleated Skirt, ASOS CURVE Shimmer Plisse Pleated Midi Skirt left to right: ASOS Photobox Platform Shoes, ASOS RAID Riz Block Heeled Shoes, ASOS Penalty Pointed High Heels For the hair, I went to the salon and asked for chilled loose (non-voluminous) waves aka The Rich Girl Hair. The makeup look I wore was mainly inspired by Lily Collins’s berry lips and prominent brows circa her mildly goth phase and the light handed contouring and prominently outlined lips for the Burberry show. If you'd like to see how I did my makeup for the night, check out the Youtube tutorial I filmed below. As I mention in the video, the look is totally wearable for a Christmas or New Year themed get up, perfect for the holiday time! If you'd like to check out more of my looks from the night, there's a slideshow of pics below where you can check out more of my outfit and makeup from different angles! credit to the photographers and the prom committee for the Night To Remember
